GAS FAULT DIAGNOSIS

Common Gas, Boiler & Heating Faults We Investigate

Gas-related problems do not always have an obvious cause. The same symptom can result from different boiler, appliance or heating system faults, which is why proper diagnosis is important before repairs are recommended.

01

Boiler Breakdowns

Sudden shutdowns, ignition problems and recurring boiler failures can leave your property without heating or hot water and require professional fault diagnosis.

Emergency Boiler Repair
02

Recurring Boiler Fault Codes

A fault code can point towards the affected part of the system, but the underlying cause still needs to be confirmed before repairs are carried out. Repeated resets should not be used as a long-term solution.

03

Loss of Heating

A complete or intermittent loss of heating can be linked to the boiler, controls, circulation or other parts of the heating system. Our engineers can investigate the cause and recommend the appropriate repair.

04

No Hot Water

If your boiler is running but your property has no hot water, the issue may involve the boiler, controls or another component within the system.

05

Gas Appliance Faults

Unusual operation, ignition problems, repeated shutdowns or concerns about a gas appliance should be assessed by a Gas Safe registered engineer rather than investigated or dismantled yourself.

Gas Safety Concerns

If you have concerns about the condition or operation of a gas appliance, professional inspection can help identify whether further work is required. Routine landlord compliance checks are handled separately.

GAS SAFETY FIRST

What to Do If You Suspect a Gas Problem

If you notice an unusual gas smell, suspect a leak or believe a gas appliance may be unsafe, do not attempt to investigate or repair the appliance yourself.

Avoid using switches, flames or electrical equipment close to the affected area and move away from the source if it is safe to do so. Suspected gas leaks should be treated as a safety issue rather than a normal repair call-out.

For non-leak faults such as boiler shutdowns, appliance problems, recurring error codes or loss of heating, our Gas Safe registered engineers can investigate the cause and advise on the appropriate repair.

!
IMPORTANT

Suspected Gas Leak?

01

Do not attempt to dismantle or repair a gas appliance.

02

Avoid naked flames and anything that could create a spark.

03

Move away from the affected area if you believe there may be an immediate risk.

04

Follow the official emergency gas-safety procedure for a suspected leak.

ROUTINE GAS SAFETY CHECK? Need a landlord inspection or gas safety certificate instead?

Routine compliance checks are a separate service from emergency gas-fault diagnosis.

PROFESSIONAL GAS FAULT DIAGNOSIS

How We Diagnose & Repair Gas Faults

Gas, boiler and heating faults can have similar symptoms, so accurate diagnosis is important before any repair is recommended. Our engineers follow a structured process to identify the cause and explain the next step.

01

Tell Us What’s Happening

When you contact us, let us know which appliance or system is affected, what symptoms you’ve noticed and whether any warning or fault codes are being displayed.

02

Engineer Investigation

A Gas Safe registered engineer assesses the affected appliance or system and investigates the likely source of the fault.

03

Clear Diagnosis

Once the cause has been identified, we explain what we’ve found and whether the issue can be repaired immediately or requires further work.

04

Repair & Next Steps

Repairs are carried out where appropriate. If replacement parts or additional work are needed, we explain the options before anything further is arranged.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Emergency Gas Engineer FAQs

Answers to common questions about gas faults, boiler problems, emergency call-outs and Gas Safe engineer services across London.

When should I call an emergency gas engineer?

You may need an emergency gas engineer when a gas appliance, boiler or heating system develops a fault that requires urgent professional investigation. This can include sudden boiler shutdowns, repeated faults, appliance problems or concerns about the safe operation of gas equipment.

Are your emergency gas engineers Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Gas-related work should be carried out by an appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Our engineers assess the affected appliance or system before recommending or carrying out repairs.

What should I do if I suspect a gas leak?

A suspected gas leak should be treated as a safety issue rather than a normal repair call-out. Do not attempt to locate, dismantle or repair the source yourself, and avoid anything that could create a flame or spark. Follow the official emergency gas-safety procedure and move away from the affected area if necessary.

Can a gas or boiler fault cause loss of heating and hot water?

Yes. A fault affecting a gas boiler can result in loss of heating, hot water or both. However, similar symptoms can also be caused by controls, circulation or other heating-system components, which is why proper diagnosis is important.

Why does my boiler keep showing the same fault code?

A recurring fault code usually means the underlying problem has not been resolved. The code can help indicate where the problem may be, but an engineer still needs to diagnose the actual cause before the correct repair can be recommended.

Should I keep resetting my boiler if the fault comes back?

If a boiler repeatedly shuts down or returns to the same fault, repeatedly resetting it is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem. A recurring fault should be properly investigated rather than continually reset.

Can you investigate intermittent gas appliance or boiler faults?

Yes. Intermittent faults can be more difficult to identify because the appliance may appear to operate normally between failures. Information about when the fault occurs, any displayed error codes and changes in appliance behaviour can help with diagnosis.

How quickly can an emergency gas engineer attend?

Attendance depends on engineer availability, your location and the nature of the problem. Urgent call-outs are prioritised, and our team can give you the clearest available indication of attendance when you contact us.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We support homeowners, landlords, managing agents and property managers with urgent gas, boiler and heating faults across the areas of London we cover.

Can you provide documentation after the engineer visit?

Documentation of findings and completed work can be provided where required. If you need specific information for a landlord, managing agent, insurer or property record, let our team know when arranging the visit.
